Origin of "Malan"

There is a legend，the Qiang nationality lived in Malan Mountain in ancient China，making a living by farming. On the foot of the mountain, there was a woodman, which had two daughters. One was called "Big Lan" and the other was called "Small Lan". A Qiang man called "Ma Lang" rescued the woodman from the cliff and offered him a flagger (Malan flower in Chinese), the prodigy of the nationality. As the second daughter Small Lan was diligent and kind-hearted, the couple lived in harmony and enjoyed a happy life.

According to Origin of Words, Malan：Another name of Lishi. It is also called "Lishi". According to Materia Medica：Lishi, or malan, also originated from Jizhou. Illustrated Description says：Malanzi，grows in the valley east of the river, whose leaf is like the scallion, long and thick.

"Its leaf is big like the orchid; its flower is violet like the chrysanthemum". The vast arid Gobi has fostered the perseverance and quiet elegance of the flower of malan；"Its root is large like the taro, and its fragrance is light like the Japanese apricot". As the saying goes, "little strokes fall great oaks"，the ten-year hard struggle has cultivated the connotations and essence of the Malan brand. Today，countless Malan people are using their glittering sweat to nourish the happy flower of "Malan Hand-pulled Noodle", as they believe, the blossoming of the flower of Malan needs our working hard little by little.
